Hello and welcome to Macie Makes a Home! I am so glad you have ended up here to share my journey and learn from my mistakes and victories along the way. I started this blog to share the reality of juggling all the things life throws at us: completing a master’s degree, working full time, creating a cozy, organized home — all while navigating major life events like buying a house and planning a wedding.

A little bit about me:

I currently live in Nashville, Tennessee with my partner and dog. We are in that stage of life where there are a lot of big changes coming our way, from big career moves to eventually starting a family. I am completing a master’s degree in social work while working a full time job, and Matthew is over halfway through his residency in internal medicine. We absolutely love everything that Nashville has to offer, but are not sure if we want to put down roots in this city once his residency is over.

As I go through this journey, I am learning how to keep up with the every day necessities of life while keeping my sanity intact. If you’re looking for a place to explore what it means to build a calm, joy-filled, and functional life, you are in the right place.

  • Chicken Tetrazzini with Velveeta (Serves 4) This recipe was a staple in my house growing up, it is pure comfort food. If you’re a cheese lover, you’re in for a treat. It’s rich, creamy, and unapologetically unhealthy (you can add a salad on the side if that helps ease the guilt). Even the pickiest eaters
